The Beauty of Change

The Beauty of Change

Change is something we all experience, and yet it often comes with fear and uncertainty. As a writer, I’ve lived through many seasons of change—both joyful and challenging. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that change is not the end of a story, but rather the beginning of a new chapter.

In The Tails of Thorngate, the quiet, gentle tails are forced to leave their peaceful home when louder, busier tails arrive. At first, it feels like loss. But as time passes, new life returns to the forest, creating a space for everyone to belong. This mirrors our own lives. Even when we lose something or face unexpected changes, new opportunities and friendships often find their way back to us.

For children, this lesson is especially important. They may face moving to a new school, welcoming a new sibling, or adjusting to new routines. Through stories, we can gently show them that change doesn’t have to be frightening—it can be an adventure. As parents and readers, we can also take comfort in remembering that every season of life holds beauty, even if it looks different than before.
